Bandipora, Jul 21 (KNO): Despite its enchanting allure and popularity as a tourist destination, Athwatoo in Bandipora district faces a significant hurdle that hampers its true potential - the lack of mobile network connectivity Located at the foothills of Harmukh mountains, Athwatoo issurrounded by serene and thick forests, this picturesque spot, which attracts a large number of visitors during the summer months, is held back from thriving to its fullest due to the absence of reliable communication services. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), scores of visitors and families who ventured to Athwatoo expressed their disappointment and anxiety over the lack of mobile connectivity. The absence of reliable communication services left them feeling uneasy during their visit. “We came here with the intention of spending quality time, drawn by the widespread praise for this beautiful destination to enjoy with our family and friends. However, the lack of mobile connectivity has become a cause for concern. In today's world, staying disconnected from the outside world is a challenge that no one desires,” said Umer Arif, who had planned an overnight stay with his friends from Kupwara. He expressed his concern at not being able to stay in touch with friends and family back home, which caused them considerable worry. “I was excited to explore this hidden gem as I read about it in a travel blog. The picturesque landscapes exceeded my expectations, but the lack of mobile network took away some of the convenience. It's time for the government to invest in better infrastructure here,” remarked Sameer Khan, an adventure lover from Budgam. According to locals, getting mobile network coverage requires descending at least a kilometer, despite the nearest village being just 30 minutes away from the district headquarters. Meanwhile, the locals appealed to the district administration to address this concern, as it would significantly enhance the tourist flow to Athwatoo—(KNO)
